We offer a highly structured VCLA Writing Subtest course that has been developed and honed since 1999. The curriculum focuses only on the specific skills and strategies needed to pass this exam, with hundreds of practice problems to help students fine-tune their skills during and between sessions. Our program starts with the basics of parts of speech and sentence structure, building a strong foundation for paragraph and essay development. Concepts in punctuation, grammar, and usage are introduced through lectures and multiple examples, with pages of practice for review. We cover specific strategies to help students understand sentences, different structures of paragraphs, and the structure of a 5-paragraph essay. Our instructors plan and write essays to demonstrate how to implement writing strategies taught in earlier modules. We also cover specific strategies for each type of error found in the Short Answer (Sentence Corrections), Multiple-Choice Grammar and Usage (Paragraph Improvements), and Mechanics Multiple-Choice sections. Our VCLA Writing Subtest course is offered in two different ways :
