Back in the old days of the MTEL tests, the exams were given on Saturday mornings and afternoons at local high schools.  My first marketing “campaign” was to travel around the North- and South Shores of Boston to these test sites and put advertising flyers on windshields.  The method was very dirty—most people didn’t wash their cars before getting up to take an MTEL—yet cost effective—I would often take my older kids and nephews to help (it usually cost me $10 a kid and Taco Bell)—and it worked.  The good folks at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education would mail a letter to your address with your score reports a month or two after that grind of a Saturday.  Your scores would also be posted on your ELAR account. 

MTEL Score Report Dates

Since the advent and proliferation of the Internet, the exams have been given at test centers (or at home – READ THIS to learn why you should NOT take an MTEL at home), and DESE sends you an email with your results, not the full score report, just if you “met the qualifying score/passing score” or not.  The reports are emailed on the appropriate score reporting date (see links below). 

Score reports for the MTEL Communication and Literacy Skills, Early Childhood, Foundations of Reading, General Curriculum, and Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test: Reading are released on the MTEL website, on this schedule.

A range of score dates are given at the link above. Find the range your test fell within, and look across to see – then you will get the email.
